Lockdown Lifeline - unlock your inner artist today
Your daily action to support Camden's brilliant independent businesses, and other ways to make the most of Lockdown2 isolation, from Camdenist
Today: learn art virtually
Join Hampstead School of Art online
Set up in 1946 with the help of lifelong patron Henry Moore, HSoA continues to provide opportunities for aspiring artists to develop their skills during lockdown. Find out more about their online courses, including Christmas Art School (9-20 December) with classes for adults and also ones for kids, too. During the first lockdown their Insta hashtag challenge #GetCreativeHSoA was so popular they've kept it going, and over 130 budding artists have now featured in their feed gallery.
Long live local libraries
If you’ve yet to discover the beautiful Belsize Community Library then there's no better time to become acquainted. This charity-run institution is taking an inventive approach to lockdown, with plenty of online activity to keep you entertained. Tune in for weekly hatha yoga classes, open mic and poetry nights, a book club, author talks, and thought-provoking 'public assemblies' - the first of which will take place this Wednesday and tackles the question of whether a 'good society' is really possible after Brexit and Covid.
Jazz up your lockdown
Undeterred by the latest restrictions, EFG London Jazz Festival is currently in full swing, with numerous venues taking part (albeit online) over the next few days, including Camden's very own cultural hot spots Green Note, Hampstead Jazz Club, and Kings Place. Tune in and donate to support your local music venues and enjoy an evening of world class live music into the deal.
