Lockdown Lifeline - Feast on local Columbian street food

We've got your lockdown covered, with plenty of ideas for how you can keep busy and support Camden's local community.

Claim 50% off Columbian street food with Camdenist

 Meet Camden Market's Maize Blaize

Connoisseurs of Columbian cuisine, Maize Blaze, are on hand to liven up lockdown mealtimes. They are offering 50% off for the first ten customers to quote 'Camdenist' when ordering from their flagship stall in Camden Market's West Yard. Their gluten-free menu features a heartily healthy mix that's packed full of vibrant flavours, including plantain, pulled chicken, garlic rice, paprika chorizo, slow cooked beans, balsamic cabbage salad, and more. Look out for their show-stopping signature boxes, The Lean Mean Vegan Machine and The Marching Box - and don't forget to make use of their extra happy hour deal, with 50% off all mains from 4pm-5pm each day, too.

   Imagine a carbon neutral Camden

What might a fairer, happier, less polluted and more sustainable Camden look like in ten years time, if the council lives up to its commitment to become carbon neutral by 2030? Now is your chance to share your vision, thanks to a collective of local environmental action groups who are working with Camden New Journal to create a limited edition wrap around the paper in early January. Anyone of any age is invited to share stories and images showing their imagined life in our borough if we managed to reach our climate targets, with a chance to see them in print. Find out how you can take part here.

We might not be able to visit galleries and museums in the way we'd like at the moment, but there are still plenty of ways to get your culture fix from Camden's institutions this month. The British Library have an entire archive of free online exhibitions available for you to peruse at your leisure, covering everything from the voyages of Captain James Cook, to LGBTQ histories, and 100 years of children's songs, rhymes and games.

Throughout lockdown #2 we'll be recommending brilliant local businesses that you can take a hand in supporting. Check our website for recent features, including art classes, a sweet 20% off the 'IST' tee-shirt range, Osteopathic and Physiotherapy from Guy Gold & Associates, and 25% off BellaTerra's delicious organic olive oils.

Camdenist is collaborative and transparent by design. We want all locals to participate, so we've built a form where you can send us ideas, propose features, and even contribute your own work.
