Lockdown Lifeline - An immunity boosting lunch break
As we enter another week in lockdown, we're on hand to guide you through all the best things to see and do, plus opportunities to support local business.
Make the most of your free time and feel good
Take an immunity-boosting lunch break
If you like the sound of breaking up the monotony that is working from home, then we recommend trying out a lunch break workshop with Castlehaven Community Association. Based just a stone's throw from Camden Market, they're teaching horticulture lessons online throughout lockdown to anyone who'd like to learn. On the syllabus this week is a session with medical herbalists Hedge Herbs on practical medicine making, using ingredients that can be found in both your home and garden; followed by the chance to make your own much needed immunity boosting tonics. See the full programme and sign up for free here.
How will you be keeping warm this winter?
Given that we're all spending much more time than usual at home this year, you might be wondering about the best ways to stay warm during the colder months without racking up an eye-wateringly large energy bill. If this is you, then try checking in to the virtual Camden Energy Cafe this week (Tuesday 24 November). Hosted by Friends of the Earth, you can learn tips and tricks for keeping toasty whilst saving money - from reading energy bills and making the switch to a better supplier, to retrofitting and the UK's Green Homes Grant.
Ever come across UCL's little known musuems? The Grant Museum of Zoology, The Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology, and UCL Art Museum can all be found in the heart of the borough, and whilst they might be closed right now, you can get a taste of what they have to offer thanks to three new 60-second tours, taking you behind the scenes of these rather special gems. Take a look to start planning your post-lockdown visit.

Throughout lockdown #2 we'll be recommending brilliant local businesses that you can take a hand in supporting. Check our website for recent features, including art classes, 20% off the 'IST' tee-shirt range, Osteopathic and Physiotherapy practice Guy Gold & Associates, and 25% off BellaTerra's delicious organic olive oils.
Camdenist is collaborative and transparent by design. We want all locals to participate, so we've built a form where you can send us ideas, propose features, and even contribute your own work.
