Lockdown Lifeline - Half price dog grooming, plus ideas for the weekend
Camdenist presents more ways to support the local economy while making the most of our ongoing pandemic predicament
Today's offer: Half price local dog grooming
Pamper your pooch post-lockdown for £15
You're probably itching to get to the hairdressers the minute restrictions move to Tier 2, but have you considered whether your dog is feeling the same way too? Thankfully, Kawaii Inu Grooming are offering half price sessions (from 3 December) for the first five people to quote Camdenist when making a booking. The service is run by young local, Jade, who like many of us has had to take an innovative approach to making a living this year. With a Level 3 qualification in dog grooming and plenty of experience, she was all set to take on a salon role, but with businesses closed for much of 2020, she's had to take matters into her own hands and work from home in Gospel Oak, offering an in-demand full grooming service to the neighbourhood's pooch population.
Prices start from £30, but you can book a slot for just £15 if you quote Camdenist today via the Kawaii Inu Facebook page.
Fresh air + fresh produce in King's Cross
If you're planning on getting out to
stretch your legs this lockdown weekend
then don't forget that King's Cross is still one of the best outdoors destinations you can visit legitimately. Seek out the increasingly festive
for the opportunity to get a healthy dose of fresh air
and
support independent businesses, with takeaway street food and tasty essentials from quality local producers. Recommendations? Look out for grilled cheese super-stars
The Big Melt
and authentic American soul food from
Outsider Tart.
If you're put off by the ugly orgy of consumerism that is Black Friday, but still want to make a start on some Christmas shopping, why not get involved with this weekend's #MuseumShopSunday instead? A great way to support local institutions and stock up on some special gifts. Ideas include iconic post box baubles at the Postal Museum, attention-grabbing jewellery from the Vagina Museum, or these Brexity collector's item egg cups (pictured) at the British Museum.
Who has been a local Saviour of Culture this year?
We're entering the final push for your votes in the first of the
Camden Covid Champions
categories, to be awarded next month. 'Saviour of Culture' is an individual, group or organisation that has kept Camden's musical, arts or cultural flame alight during 2020, despite the huge challenges of lockdown. Who deserves to be honoured? Now's your chance to let us know.
