Ibiza cabaret spot lands locally + 6 Chalk Farm restaurants

Grab a coffee, here's your Friday morning essential read, from Camdenist.

CABARET: Ibiza venue Lio is opening on our doorstep

This week we're looking at the return of the legendary

Café De Paris

, a local nightlife hotspot since 1924, but one which was very nearly shuttered forever by Covid.

all you need to know, from the rollcall of celebs who've performed there to the turbulent 100-year history of the iconic venue, and the exciting plans by Ibizan super-brand Pacha, who are about to take over with their Lio cabaret...

FOOD: Six to try on Chalk Farm Road

On our ongoing quest to support Camden's high streets, this week we're highlighting the often overlooked northern pastures of Camden Town - aka Chalk Farm Road -  which has an unexpected line-up of restaurants well worth considering. These include Insta soulfood sensation Trap Kitchen (think killer mac 'n' cheese, lobster, waffles), East-meets-West hoedown fusion joint The Korean Cowgirl (zingy fried chicken and Texas-style brisket), and the lighter, all-vegan Power Plant, championing fresh seasonal ingredients. Just behind the 'great wall of Camden' in the Market's North Yard, you'll find Baladin's Italian beers and deli dishes opposite the Delhi-style streetfood thalis of Indian Alley and the superb dairy delights of The Cheese Bar.

 WATCH: Walk the River Fleet

Still as relevant today and when it was made a couple of years ago, check out this lovely guided video walk along a route above historic buried local landmark the River Fleet. It's well worth a moment of your time, and might even inspire a jaunt of your own, meandering from Hampstead Heath down to the Thames...
