4 new food & drink openings šŸ’š + a busy weekend of events

Your Friday morning essential read. Five localĀ feel-good highlights, including exclusive special offers and events.Ā Prepared with love by the team at Camdenist

Ā EVENTS:Ā Late summer parties this weekendĀ

We're spoilt for choice this weekend with free outdoor music, drinking, dining and performances popping up all over the place. The biggest is the return of Camden Town Brewery's famous

Tank Party

after a Covid-enforced hiatus. Head

for a 2-day fiesta of beer poured straight from the fermentation tanks. It's the first time chef Theo Randall's classy Beer Hall food will be served at the event, too. If you're quick you can book one of the last remaining beer banquet tickets, which include a special 3-course tasting menu. Or

Ā on Saturday for the

Fitzrovia Youth In Action Street Party

, where young artists from Chalk Farm's Roundhouse will perform and host interactive workshops for others to join in. Also part of the

Camden Together

programme on Saturday is a dementia-friendly summer concert of from Songhaven in St George's Gardens, Bloomsbury. Bring a picnic and enjoy songs from classically-trained artists. Meanwhile, up at Parliament Hill Fields the Dig It Soundsystem are also back with one of their popular community DJ hoedowns at the bandstand (2019 edition pictured above). Nearby party-startersĀ Disappearing Dining Club will deliver pre-ordered picnics, draft beers and cocktailsĀ if you ask them nicely, too.Ā

Ā OPENINGS:Ā New food & drink to try in CamdenĀ

Jamestown Rd's Fifty-Five Bar was an early victim of lockdown, but happily the site has just been reborn as

All About Eve

, a

all-day diner and cocktail bar, looking very handsomeĀ in the image above. Nearby on Chalk Farm Rd, a vast new branch of West Hampstead fave

Organico

has opened in the former

Escapade

Ā fancy dress shop. The mezzanine level has loads of tables and a menu of healthy brunches and chef's specials like meat-free burgers, mezze platters and spinach daal, while down below is a cavernous eco-groceries and homewares

. At the heart of the newly openedĀ

Hawley Wharf

is Dockray Place, a secluded square that's now hosting

The Spread Produce Market

every Saturday and Sunday. They'reĀ

offering deli goods, fresh bread, small batch drinks and more, as a brand new weekend pit-stop for locals.

And just up on Kentish Town Rd is new Middle Eastern cafe

Kentish.101

, serving homemade Kurdish and other regional specialtiesĀ each day, adding nicely to a strip that's already rich with tasty global food options. Plenty to get your teeth into. šŸ„— šŸ¹ šŸ„

Ā MUSIC:Ā Vince Power on his return to DingwallsĀ

Legendary festival promoter and venue owner, Vince Power, surprised many when he bought Camden's Dingwalls venue at the height of the Covid pandemic last year. But as he tells us, the ups and downs of his amazing 50-year career have taught him little when it comes to following his unfailing passion for music. After many months wait, the venue now known as Powerhaus, is finally hosting live gigs and we can all get excited about this new local gem, and the plans Vince is working on.
