Midland Grand Dining Room preview + Tom Hanks & co in King's Cross

Grab a coffee, here's your Friday morning essential read, from Camdenist.

FOOD & DRINK: The neighbourhood's red hot new restaurant

Euston Road looks set to become London's hottest new dining destination this spring, with the big opening of The Midland Grand Dining Room, in the outrageously opulent setting of the original 1800's hotel of the same name. We might not all be feeling flush enough to book a table there just now, however the story behind it is well worth a read, and we're assured that a more simple bar menu of burgers and such like will also be available for those who want to sit in the stunning bar (pictured) and soak up all those 'golden age of steam' vibes...

SUPPORT: Pledge £2 towards a unique night out

Our crowdfunder (for a slice of the Love Your Camden High Street Fund to help us bring three new Secret Feasts events to different local neighbourhoods), is already just shy of half way towards its target, thanks to generous support from some key local stakeholders. With your help we can now convince the Council to pledge a sizable chunk of their fund and get it over the line. If you'd like a unique chance to discover restaurants in Kentish Town, Belsize Park and Holborn in the coming weeks, and offer vital support to Camden's brilliant independent hospitality businesses, please demonstrate your enthusiasm for this with a pledge today - for as little as £2. The Council will look favourably upon us if we can show there's a real appetite for it, and we know how much you like to eat out for less.😏We'll reward all crowdfunder supporters with something a little special🍷and you'll be helping us produce our next free print magazine in celebration of all the local restaurants and more, too. The deadline for your pledges is Monday, so please do it now if you're thinking about it. Cheers!
