 EXPLORE: Interactive VR Jellyfish

Why not try singing with jellyfish this weekend as part of a unique virtual reality work at Chalk Farm art gallery Zabludowicz Collection? Conceived by artists Mélodie Mousset and Edo Fouilloux, as you enter The Jellyfish, the organisms respond to your voice depending on its pitch, vibration and the intensity of the sound. Sing to them and see how they react and echo you with their own choir. The work explores synaesthesia and self-hypnosis in order to create a feeling of connection with another species. Booking is not necessary and entry is free.

EAT: European brasserie Camden Social is open

Tucked away just off the main drag of the High Street, Camden Social is the new kid on Jamestown Road's food block, which opened last week in the former Byron burgers site. Billed as a 'European British Brasserie', brunch menu highlights include their epic Camden Bacon Roll or hearty pancakes with blueberries, cinnamon butter and maple syrup. Later in the day there's Entrecôte steak and chocolate fondant, making for another strong local all-day eatery to try out this summer.

MUSIC: BPM Collective at Powerhaus tonight

This week's return to the dancefloor, and uncertainty around whether nightlife is really back for good, means we need to take every opportunity to support promoters and venues right now. Party-starters BPM Collective throw their postponed debut at the Powerhaus (formerly Dingwalls) tonight, with

Jamo Beatz

dropping hip-hop, garage, drill and everything in between.

Last Word Festival

. Events include the 15th anniversary of the

Poetry Slam Final

on Thursday - tickets and info available here. The venue's CEO and Creative Director, Marcus Davey, has also been telling Camdenist his own very personal story about the power of making music in changing lives

THIS WEEK'S ONE-CLICK POLL There are now 18 Council-approved ‘streateries’ offering dining on pavements and roads in the borough. What do you make of them?

LAST WEEK WE ASKED:

How convinced are you that this really is the end of the Covid lockdowns?

The concept of 'freedom day' was always looking a bit shaky, and only a super-optimistic 8% of readers feel there's no potential for rolling backward. Most of you are hedging your bets, but with Camden's schools limping up to the end of term this week by sending thousands of families into summer holidays of isolation, for many, lockdown remains firmly an ongoing situation.

Camdenist is collaborative and transparent by design. We invite all locals to participate, so we've built a form where you can send us ideas, propose features, and even contribute your own work.
