Heath dog videos you'll love + foodie re-opening news
Five weekly feel-good highlights, including exclusive offers, great reads, videos and things to do locally during and after lockdown. Prepared with love by the team at Camdenist
THIS WEEK'S OFFER: Meet Nourished Communities
Rollo Millership was moved to act when Covid lockdown saw Angel Farmers' Market shut and livelihoods threatened. He set up a home delivery service for stall holders, which grew into a shop for click and collect. This week he tells us his story, and reveals his hopes for the future of local food supply in London. You can support his brilliant roster of local producers and suppliers, while also enjoying a tasty 10% off your first order, too...

EAT: Kineya Mugimaru at St Pancras Station
Back in December an exciting new arrival at St Pancras International was the European debut of Japan's famed noodle bar Kineya Mugimaru. Lockdown means that very few of us have had a chance to visit for a bowl of freshly made noodle soup or the ten different crispy tempura sides. The good news is they have confirmed a re-opening on April 12th. Remember that the lofty station concourse is officially deemed outdoor space, making it London's ideal all-weather foodie destination while restrictions slowly ease.
WATCH: Bosco's Big Stick Energy
Watching videos of Hampstead Heath's very own viral canine sensation @Boscoandhisbigstick is about more than just enjoying a cute pooch carting around unfeasibly large bits of wood. The growing body of his work, (14.7m likes on TikTok plus TV appearances in the UK and US), is also a unique snapshot of a historic local moment. From the crowded summer through the muddy depths of a lockdown winter, the relentless humans in Bosco's path capture the vital public amenity of the Heath in the era of Covid perfectly.
PLAY: King's Cross Crazy Golf
A year ago, the sight of the abandoned fluro-painted 9-hole crazy golf course at Coal Drops Yard was an abiding local memory of the complete shut down of our way of life. Fortunately, one year on, it makes for the ideal socially-distanced outdoor game for the Easter holidays. And so Golf Club returns on the 6th April for a month, with tickets bookable in advance. There's even a £100 meal prize draw for sharing ker-ay-zee snaps on the socials.
WALK: Step out with Go Jauntly
Brilliant social walking app
Go Jauntly
was already on a mission to get our sedentary backsides up off the sofa and into the natural world long before Covid struck. But the pandemic has seen its perambulation recommendations really come into their own. The latest upgrade (iOS with Android on the way), is green routes for you, which plots the leafiest, quietest, least-polluted path from A-B, or creates bespoke 20, 45 or 60-minute circular nature walks from your doorstep.
THIS WEEK'S ONE-CLICK POLL Large gatherings are happening on Primrose Hill at night, as young people with nowhere to go attempt to socialise during lockdown. So what’s the best response?
LAST WEEK WE ASKED:
Noise complaints in Camden are up by many hundreds as we've all been cooped up at home, but should we cut people a bit of slack this summer?
It's the most tightly fought Camdenist poll result to date, with readers fairly evenly split between yes, no and maybe. After many months indoors, the idea of taking a more relaxed attitude to neighbours having fun just tips the scale, probably because we can all see ourselves enjoying an alfresco meal or two at some point. Cheers!
CAMDENIST COMMUNITY: Help spread the word
Congratulations to this week's winner, Fung Wong, who pipped more than 900 other hopefuls in the Searcy's champagne tasting menu prize draw, all of whom entered simply by sharing their referral link or tagging friends in Instagram comments. Searcy's reopens alongside other food and drink retailers in just over two weeks time, for afternoon teas and a small plate menu.
