 ART: Sprucing up Shake Shack, by artist Aga Giecko  

We're all for global brands taking the time to invest in local when they arrive on our doorsteps, so this week we spoke to Camden-based artist Aga Giecko, who was asked to imagine a colourful visual identity for the new branch of US burger chain Shake Shack as it opens in Camden Town. She's manages to swerve the usual cliches while celebrating the spirt of the neighbourhood - take a look at her illsutrations and hand-painted wall mural and let us know what you think...

 DRINK: The Gothic Bar opens with Midland Grand  

The Gothic Bar 

is the new name for the super-luxe cocktail palace at the former Gilbert Scott restaurant at St Pancras (cop a look inside in the photo above). Its revival grandeur has not been accessible for sharp sundowners since Marcus Wareing shut up shop here during the Covid lockdowns, however it returns on Tuesday, alongside the opening of the hottest restaurant ticket of the summer,

 are now signing up all-comers for their annual non-competitive cycle ride through the streets of the borough. It's taking place on Sat 20th May, 

 SHOW: Breakin Convention festival hits Sadler's Wells  

Celebrating 20 years as the UK's pioneering hip hop dance theatre festival,

Breakin Convention

 are throwing their biggest party ever to celebrate. Across the whole weekend, including the free outdoor Park Jam in Islington on Monday daytime, you can enjoy an international selection of poppers, lockers b-boys and b-girls, all throwing serious shapes on the main stage. Meanwhile DJs, graffiti artists and freestyle sessions will be popping up in and around Sadler's Wells.
