 COMING UP: Camdenist presents Unlockdown

Today we're thrilled to announce that we will soon be releasing our first print publication:

Camdenist presents Unlockdown.

It will be the definitive guide to consciously, safely and above all enjoyably going out to support our brilliant local economy as things re-open.

Not only that, but the 24-page magazine will be delivered for free through the door of every single resident in the borough. Find out more

LISTEN: How I Started Closet Conversations

Closet Conversations is the fast-growing local lifestyle podcast, launched last year by Mary Marshall. In today's interview, she tells us how being furloughed led her to follow her dream and begin producing a weekly show from home. As well as telling us her inspiring story, she also has plenty of advice for mental and physical wellbeing during the (hopefully) tail end of our year of social isolation.

KIDS: Loads to do this Easter

With a return to outdoor sports and play, there's a surprising amount for young people to get involved with over the Easter holidays, despite the wider Covid restrictions. Check out this list from the Camden Rise website, with info on everything from football to gardening, and dance to animal care, all happeing over the coming weeks at Camden's fantastic variety of clubs, organisations and outdoor facilities.

WATCH: King's Cross Station in the 1950s

A diverting couple of minutes of Easter long-weekend time travel for you, with this historic video of King's Cross Station shot seven decades ago. At once familiar but strikingly different, you can almost taste the choking dust and soot from the rumbling locomotives. It sure has scrubbed up well from the time of this footage, taken in the 1950s from drone-like vantages on tall neighbouring buildings.

BUY: Iconic Tube Seat Cover Facemasks

Masks are going to be a thing on the Underground for a long time to come, so rather then go for a dull monochrome number, or environmentally damaging disposable option, why not celebrate the Tube's famous moquette seat designs instead? The London Transport Museum Shop is offering this trio of distinctive patterns as seen on the Victoria, Bakerloo and the late arriving Elizabeth Line, now available for your very own face.

THIS WEEK'S ONE-CLICK POLL How likely are you to make a concerted effort to support Camden's businesses and venues this summer?

LAST WEEK WE ASKED:

Large gatherings are happening on Primrose Hill at night, as young people with nowhere to go attempt to socialise during lockdown. So whatโ€™s the best response?

The costly and restrictive idea of adding lockable gates to Primrose Hill was not that popular with voters, who largely prefer that the famous green space should remain accessible at all times. With vast sun-seeking crowds and even a knife fight during the daytime this week, it's clear that the Hill currently serves as a vital urban pressure valve, but this inevitably attracts all kinds of people. Gates won't solve society's problems, or stop them arriving on the Hill at different times of the day. The reopening of other places to go and things to do should help though, as 38% agree.
