BOOK NOW: Bavarian Beer Hall & Chef Theo Randall
With Covid having postponed the relaunch of their Wilkin Street Mews bar by a whole year,
Camden Town Brewery
are finally preparing to open the Camden Beer Hall in early June. Not only have they taken over more railway arches for Bavarian-style drinking vibes, they've also teamed up with Michelin starred (for his years at The River Café) TV chef, and Chalk Farm resident, Theo Randall to sort out the food. Another hot ticket for the months ahead, read all about it on the website today.
PUBLIC ART: See the sculpture that cleans the air
Breathe
is a brand new sculpture by artist Jasmine Pradissito, made from an innovative material that actually absorbs car fumes to improve local air quality. It's being installed today on the
Camden People's Theatre
near Euston Road, the UK's pollution hotspot, as part of Euston Town's long term projects for the area. Inspired by our need to take a deep breath, it's also a fitting new attraction for when the revamped theatre opens, and Drummond Street's summer 'streatery'.

STREET POETRY: Crick vaccination project
If you've been jabbed at The Francis Crick Institute, as 7,000 of us currently are each week, you'll have been handed a postcard to participate in
A Drop of Hope: Poetry from a Vaccination Centre
. Twelve poems, including two in Bengali and two in Somali, have been commissioned, with poets using the cards as inspiration. Alongside our emotions around Covid, they also cover the science being used to conquer it, some of which is being developed in the very same building. The first four poems went up outside the centre yesterday and you can now take a Covd-safe outdoor stroll to see them.
CINEMA: Everyman prepares to welcome us back
Hooray! Today sees bookings open for the boroughs assorted branches of Everyman Cinema, who will be roaring back to life with a blockbuster line-up on Oscar winners and long overdue releases. Take your pick from the likes of Nomadland and Judas & The Black Messiah, or bring the kids for Peter Rabbit 2. After so long stuck at home with box sets, the idea of a big screen feature film seems impossibly exciting, so we assume tickets will be flying out. Time to get organised.
THIS WEEK'S ONE-CLICK POLL Camden has long been a hub for street art, from Banksy originals on the canal to the recent Open Air Gallery project that's brightening up shop fronts on the high street. But what do you think of it?
LAST WEEK WE ASKED:
As a Monopoly-themed experience prepares to replace Paperchase on Tottenham Court Rd, a Judge Dredd game and an immersive theatre company eye-up chunks of Camden Market, what do you think of this vision for high streets centred around games and experiences?
Readers are certainly intrigued by these proposals, if not entirely enthusiastic about whether they'll be spending their leisure time in this way. Still, escape rooms still seem fairly odd, but that hasn't stopped them becoming very popular pre-pandemic. Not many of you are set on trying to preserve the high streets of old, Covid likely revealing that change is coming to these spaces, whether we like it or not.
