Highlights from the last 12 months of Camdenist for your festive reading pleasure

Water symmetry - the postal depot on Regent’s Canal from the towpath in King’s Cross

A diversion from the usual format for this ‘twixtmas’ edition of your weekly Camdenist, as we focus on some of the best bits from the last year of championing all things cultural in and around the borough.

Camdenist Culture Campaign

At the start of 2024, we began a rolling series taking an in-depth look at the challenges - and the solutions - facing our most beloved crucibles of culture: pubs, nightclubs, theatres, music venues, street markets, cinemas and more.

Our exclusive reveal of plans for a brand new late night grassroots music venue and club coming to the West End (which has since happily been granted its planning permission) was the most clicked story of the year…

In 2025 we’re going to offer gifts, incentives and local deals to people that introduce more of their neighbours to Camdenist, so please give us an Xmas boost by sharing Camdenist with at least one friend - it will add a point to your referral total, and that might end up being a very good thing 😉

The Guest Editors

Offering up the platform of Camdenist to a variety of voices proved a big hit (and something we’ll be doing more of in 2025, for sure), with comedian Ruby Wax’s edition being the most opened email of the year.

📺 Camden video of the week

Railcam is the proudly geeky service that has brought the pursuit of trainspotting away from wind-swept platforms and rain-lashed sidings into the comfort of homes worldwide, via a network of strategically placed webcams. Once a year, one of the prime such cameras, located on the trackside in Camden, swivels skywards in time to broadcast the capital’s New Years Eve fireworks extravaganza. Here’s last year’s video, and you’ll find the whole thing going out ‘live’ to usher in 2025 this Tuesday night.

These cannabis gummies keep selling out in 2024

If you've ever struggled to enjoy cannabis due to the harshness of smoking or vaping, you're not alone. That’s why these new cannabis gummies caught our eye.

Mood is an online dispensary that has invented a “joint within a gummy” that’s extremely potent yet federally-legal. Their gummies are formulated to tap into the human body’s endocannabinoid system.

Although this system was discovered in the 1990’s, farmers and scientists at Mood were among the first to figure out how to tap into it with cannabis gummies. Just 1 of their rapid onset THC gummies can get you feeling right within 5 minutes!
